For most of his life, Donnie Fauber has had a love affair with wood. In 2010, he fully committed to this material by launching this namesake brand. Based in Staunton Virginia, D. Fauber Woodsmith utilizes many different natural wood types to create custom made furniture, business accessories and D. Fauber Woodsmith cases. It’s a growing business, so Donnie often receives help from his assistant, Sarah Soper.

This small wood shop currently produces two different D. Fauber Woodsmith iPad cases, a back protector ($29) and a magnetic smart cover ($129). Both are designed for the iPad2 and new iPad. The back cover secures to the tablet via a pre-applied adhesive that leaves no sticky residue. It works best when combined with the smart cover for all-around tablet protection and a more balanced aesthetic. These handmade cases are available in a variety of wood types, including: Black Limba, Bubinga, Curly Maple, Cherry, Mahogany, Quilted Sycamore, Walnut, and Padauk. Some are photo-reactive, so their colors will darken with exposure to light.

Fauber and Soper invest a lot of time crafting each wood case, so those who buy D. Fauber Woodsmith tablet cases are guaranteed a beautiful, unique specimen. Sure, they don’t come cheap, but we think you’ll definitely receive a valuable return on your investment.
