A study by Jumptap, a leading research group in targeted mobile advertising, shows that people are now feeling more comfortable using tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices for eCommerce. The study stated that two-thirds (63%) of tablet users make purchases on the device, compared to 83% of PC owners who do the same. Purchases on smartphones come in at 31%. The lower number is due to many people stating security issues related to smartphones affected their decision not to shop online.

Also affecting the audience data were age demographics: 79% of tablet owners aged 18-34 purchase products with the device; compared to 50% of those aged 35-54 and 43%, if aged 55 or older. This trend will certainly change over the next decade as tablets increasingly enter into our daily lives of a post-desktop world.
