Heavy Fire: Amazon Kindle Tablet PC Dissatisfies Early Users

Kindle Fire dissatisfies early users

Though Amazon Kindle Fire was expected to be *the* hit of the Christmas shopping season, many who preordered or bought the device early are disappointed – and critical review is little better.

User comments on Amazon’s own website often cite lack of external volume control, slow responsiveness of the touchscreen, and slow load times. Amazon spokesman Drew Herdener promised that the company would be “rolling out an over-the-air update to Kindle Fire” before the end of the calendar year, but this update naturally will only cover certain privacy issues in the software and cannot help what many find to be below-average hardware.

Analysts nevertheless place estimates of Kindle Fire sales in the fourth quarter of 2010 as high as five million units.

The Amazon Kindle Fire may be housed in any of the available 7” tablet cases.
