The long-awaited Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is now available in North America, with wide release throughout the U.S. and Canada expected within the next two weeks.

This unique device is most known for the keyboard which may be docked to a freestanding 10.1” tablet PC to create a full-on laptop experience when needed; the Transformer Prime also has techies abuzz with its status as the first tablet PC powered by the NVIDIA quad-core processor.

Asus CEO Jonney Shih has told media that the company expects to sell between three million and six million of the new tablet PC in 2012. The Asus Transformer Prime is currently available at Best Buy stores at a suggested retail price of $499.
