Otterbox Acquires Renowned Tablet Accessories Manufacturer LifeProof

Otterbox, a renowned manufacturer of high-class accessories for smartphone and tablets has acquired LifeProof – another company specializing in mobile gadget accessories. LifeProof was founded in 2009 and has grown into a global brand producing rugged tablet cases , recognized by the accessory industry with several awards.

Otterbox portfolio is to feature LifeProof brands as soon as the integration, scheduled for the coming month, is completed. Otterbox is a family owned business operating since 1998, which employs around 650 people worldwide, while LifeProof staff accounts approximately 250 employees, which will remain in their San Diego headquarters for the foreseeable future.

Brian Thomas, Otterbox CEO, had the following comments on the acquisition: “The joining of Otterbox and LifeProof is a way to combine two great brands and provide customers with even more great products, services and choices for smartphone accessories.”
