Skech Booklet Apple iPad 2/3/4 Portfolio review

Skech has created one classy-looking portfolio tablet case for use with the iPad 2 or new iPad 3/4. But don’t simply judge this “Booklet” by its cover. This zipper case is packed with features on the inside, including auto sleep/wake function, 8 card slots cards, stylus holder, built-in kickstand for typing support, and an anti-slip strap that allows the case to be pitched like a tent for a variety of viewing display angles.

Editor's Rating

The “Booklet” is available in two models, one has an exterior made entirely of black faux-leather, and this one that I have is mostly a black quilted nylon exterior with faux-leather grip pad. It has a classy aesthetic that can compliment a man’s sense of style or appeal as a chic and elegant tablet case for ladies. Underneath the quilted exterior is a thin layer of padding that combines with a smooth-touching soft felt interior and zip closure to shield the iPad 2 against bumps, dents, dirt, scratches and liquid spills.

To keep the iPad 2 strapped in, there are four elastic bands wrapped with faux-leather, but working alongside the case’s stiff, flat back plate, made it difficult for me to reach the volume rocker and power switch. The later should not be a concern because Skech has incorporated a magnet that activates your device’s sleep/wake function. This tablet portfolio case has several other interior features, including 8 slots for card storage, a pen holder, a collapsible kickstand for typing work modes, and a 13.5” long rubber strap (folded into thirds and secured by an elastic strap), which when unraveled and the cover is folded back, functions as an anti-slip mechanism to stably support the case in a multitude of viewing display angles on a level surface. The camera pierce on the back is double the size of those on most cases, so easy alignment will never be an issue. I also like that the case is sealed shut by a zipper that runs from bottom to top, which allows you to open it slightly (about 1½ inches) for use of the audio-jack while on the go.

Pros

  • 2012 Golden Case Awards nominee for Best Portfolio Case
  • Magnet for sleep/wake feature
  • Interior slots and pen holder
  • Stand supports for typing and viewing

            Overall: GOOD

Nothing too sketchy about this folio case. The “Booklet” is a best case scenario for those who seek classy style, solid function and protection at a reasonable price.
