Cooper X Kajsa Rock Star Apple iPad 3/4 Folio Case review

London Calling? From a purely visual standpoint, the Cooper X Kajsa Rock Star folio case appears a best case scenario for any venerable punk-rocker or hardened biker. But the Rock Star case does go beyond maintaining a certain image for its user. Opening the folio reveals a large pocket for folded documents, a small book and/or accessories, as well as an integrated stand feature for iPad viewing.

Editor's Rating

The Cooper and Kajsa brands have teamed-up to introduce a unique entry to the folio case-style category. The Rock Star folio incorporates a tri-fold design that when fully opened is equal in size to approximately 3 iPad widths. Though the package states “For iPad 3 generation”, the Rock Star folio will also work with an iPad 2. An incorporated inner faux-leather bezel with tuck-in flap keeps the tablet securely fitted. However, iPad 2 owners are warned that the there is a bit of wiggle room inside for their particular model tablet. In turn, he/she will often have to realign the iPad 2 to cutouts for buttons, ports and rear-camera.

Upon opening the Rock Star folio, the user will immediately find a large pocket that is capable of holding a small book and folded A-4 sized documents. This feature has its own closing flap fitted with a magnetic button lock, and it is accessible without disturbing the iPad in sleep mode.

Another magnetic snap-button is used to lock the entire folio securely. However, it may take the user a few extra seconds to line everything up. But it’s worth it, because success is confirmed by a reassuring click and the reward is a firm closure. From there, the Rock Collection folio will shield the iPad and stored accessories from dirt, bumps, scratches and perhaps some very minor accidental drops.

In the end, you may see beauty in the Cooper X Kajsa Rock Star folio case, or you won’t. The glittery, aged metallic finish of the faux-leather (in black, brown or red) exterior jells with the pyramid-shaped studs. One can almost hear the voice in the back of the room saying “This is a nice case as it is, but we need something more” – hence those iconic studs that say I’m a rebel!
