The Companion sleeve is like that shy, quiet friend who has your back, but mostly prefers to stay out of the way so you can be the center of attention. The first thing worth noting here is that the design will only fit the distinctive shape of an iPad, iPad 2, or New iPad 3, so it is not recommended for use with any other 10” brand tablet. Once inserted, there is no wiggle room for the iPad, which in turn, but it still fits well with a smart cover attached. There is no need to worry about this case bursting apart at the seams - its side edges are stiff and reinforced with dual-stitching.

AP Gear utilizes water-resistant sailcloth material for the outer shell construction. The interior is made of an open-celled, medium density breathable polyurethane foam, which is laminated to a soft polyester insider liner - imagine its feel as being a mix of soft cotton and neoprene. There are no annoying Velcro sound, struggling buckle straps or snagging zippers to deal with here. Instead, magnets are incorporated to guarantee secure case closure (note to AP Gear: a trimmer flap design could align the magnets closer to the tablet edge for sleep/wake function). The Companion sleeve will be a good friend to the iPad, offering safe shelter against everyday wear and tear, and even sharing its umbrella in wet weather conditions. Combine this with a durable build, and the two should be pals for life.
