Both the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 and the keyboard docking station is a pretty hefty investment, so for those with minimal funds remaining, a budget-friendly case like the Cooper Kai Leaf folio can be a compelling choice. In addition to combining your tablet and keyboard in one solution, this portfolio case also features slots for holding your business cards and documents.

Pros

  • Access to all device controls/features
  • Detachable keyboard tray
  • Slots for business cards/documents

Cons

  • Consumes a lot of space on desk/tabletop
  • Design for displaying the tablet is not reliable
  • No brand name for quality reassurance

Overview

The Cooper Kai Leaf folio case for the TF101 and keyboard attachment is comparable to the solution created by Tuff-Luv, with the main differences (besides cost) being their functional performances and quality. This budget portfolio case is made of faux-leather, and although it touches softer than the genuine leather on the brand name design, its overall look and feel is noticeably much cheaper.

The tablet holds secure inside the incorporated bezel frame, which has openings for the keyboard docking station and all ASUS Eee Pad Transformer controls and features, including its rear-facing camera. Like the Tuff-Luv design, the removable keyboard plate is attached to case-body by two button studs and contains two bottom corner inserts for fitting the keyboard. But here, the design also incorporates two elastic bands on the top corners to hold this accessory a bit more secure.

Unlike the Tuff-Luv design, there is no kickstand feature for propping the device more reliably stable, rather the cover folds back into a tent-like position and tablet sinks into this support. It still stands fairly sturdy and can be displayed in a couple different angles, with the case consuming between 13.5 – 16 in (35-40cm) of space on the desk/tabletop. The Tuff-Luv case also gives you additional holders for SD cards, pens and Stylus, but here you still get slots for holding business cards and documents (standard A4 size need to be folded in half to fit).

RatingDescription
Design: Good
N/A
3.5Functionality:
The Tuff-Luv design can keep you better organized and display your tablet more stable, but this solution can perform nearly just as well while also maintaining clear access to all tablet/keyboard controls and features.
3.5Protection: Good
Considering its design for everyday business use, this faux-leather magnetic case will likewise protect your tablet and keyboard against the bumps, dirt, scrapes, dings, and scratches that is certain to encounter.
2.0Quality: Poor
It does have a nice soft touch, but the faux-leather is like loose skin, which gives the case an overall cheap feel. In addition to the build-up of my oily fingerprints, the exterior is already showing signs of scuffing.
3.0Value: Okay
This solution would be a better value if not for the following reason: Tuff-Luv also offers a faux-leather model that is priced not much higher than this generic design, and is backed by the brand’s lifetime guarantee.
3.1Overall: Okay

The Tuff-Luv design can offer you better function and quality, but the Cooper Kai Leaf is still a good comparable solution if you need to downgrade the cost.
