But, while we offer you hundreds of reviews for pre-designed/built tablet cases from a variety of manufacturers, Germanmade allows you to create your own individually stylized case design. The company does all the hard work first, producing a well-constructed handmade tablet case that has the look of Moleskine notebook. From there, they let you simply determine the case’s material and exterior/interior colors for complimenting your own unique sense of style.

The G.1 combines a classic book cover and a solid Multiplex-birch wooden frame with high-pressure laminate surface. For the iPad model, the frame surface is black, and for the iPad 2/iPad 3 you can select either black or white. In its most basic form the case is made of Buckram book linen material that is available in 15 choice colors for the exterior and interior. For increased grip-ability, as well as a more sophisticated look, you can upgrade to faux-leather (+$26) or genuine leather (+$52). Though in contrast to linen, these upgraded materials have a more limited selection of choice colors and shades. And for an additional $13, you can personalize the case even further with a monogram (max. of 30 letters) on either the front/inside bottom middle.
Compared to similar designs by DODOCase and Portenzo, and the G.1 is a 1/2 inch larger all around, and feels a tad clunky at approximately 13 ounces. The frame design is also noticeably different. Rather than glue, Germanmade strengthens the rubber corners into the frame with screws for more durability. The frame design is also noticeably different. The cover can be also be folded all the back to create a support for typing modes, which did feel most comfortable while resting in the lap. Though not discreetly hidden inside the cover, there is an embedded magnet for providing automatic sleep/wake function when closing and opening.

"Expensive, but worth it"
I’ve heard many good things about the Germanmade cases and decided to finally order one. Had to opt for linen instead of leather because of the price, and I thing I made the right choice. The fingerprints and smudges can’t be seen on my linen fabric, whereas my wife’s leather iPhone case always looks dirty.
The quality of the G.1 is exceptional, just as they advertise and can be seen in every little detail. The case is a bit on the heavy side, but that’s not a problem for me: I rarely take the tablet out of my living room. However, other qualities of the book case are exactly right for me: the wooden frame shields my iPad 2 from harm, while the built-in stand is just perfect when I want to video chat or watch movies.
I would certainly recommend this case to anyone who isn’t afraid to pay the price. Remember one thing: quality doesn’t come cheap.
