The folks at Cooper Cases are apparently quite proud of this tablet folio case: After all, it’s described as both “Infinite” and “Universal” in its lofty name. And in a few aspects, Cooper’s pride may be justified. Unfortunately, too many generic features (including the look) detract from the overall product.
HOCO Apple iPad 2 Leather Back Protector with Kickstand in Black
The HOCO "Exclusively Touching" line of Apple iPad 2
cases are all about combining slim design and function with elegance. Featuring a vintage full-grain leather exterior and built-in kickstand, this tablet protector lives up to the series' standards.
- Slim, lightweight design
- Nice genuine leather looks
- Built-in kickstand feature
- No cover and/or screen protection
- Slick surface feel
Though it has some unassuming looks, this leather case knows how to impress. It all starts with the lightweight and slim rubberized polycarbonate frame covered with vintage full-grain leather. Though truly hard to tell for sure when touching, it definitely looks the real stuff. The snap-on shell fits the iPad 2 precise and keeps it fully functional. When traveling, the design shields the tablet backside and edges against bumps, dings and scratches. Alas, the built-in flush-mount kickstand feature releases to support the iPad in three different angles for typing and viewing modes.

- Precise cutouts for all iPad 2 buttons, input/output ports, speakers and rear-camera
- Built-in flush-mount kickstand for tablet stand modes
- Supports 15° angle for typing in landscape format
- Supports 50° and 70° angles for viewing in landscape format
- Ultra-slim, lightweight design
- Net weight: 110g / 3.9 oz
Precise cutouts keep the iPad 2 fully functional while encased. The kickstand feature is a nice extra that acts sturdier than its flimsy feel would suggest. And the dual-collapsible design provides up to three angles for typing and viewing in landscape format.
During travel, this design will shield the iPad backside, corners and edges against bumps, dings and scratches. It should also cushion the blow of accidental collapses while in stand mode.
It's hard to distinguish whether or not this is genuine leather, but we'll take HOCO's word for it. The brand has done a fine job matching the leather cover with the polycarbonate shell. Though the kickstand feels a tad flimsy, the Leather Back Protector could easily outlive the tablet.
Though a bit more expensive than the average back protector, $31.95 is a reasonable price for this quality HOCO design that also brings a bit more function along with it.
Though overshadowed by some other HOCO solutions, this one can still be considered a best case scenario for the iPad 2 user who seeks a quality back protector and some extra function to come along with it.
