The folks at Cooper Cases are apparently quite proud of this tablet folio case: After all, it’s described as both “Infinite” and “Universal” in its lofty name. And in a few aspects, Cooper’s pride may be justified. Unfortunately, too many generic features (including the look) detract from the overall product.

Don’t feel like you have to give up on everything that books can offer just because you now have an iPad. For book lovers out there, Macally has designed a custom fit case & stand for the Apple tablet. The BookStand’s durable and lightweight microfiber suede feel is a nice change from the rubberized material of some folio cases. This gives the case a great “just from the book store” vibe. The folio style case effortlessly transforms into a stand for comfortably viewing or typing on your iPad. Simply snap the tablet into place and curl up on the couch with your excellently priced case.
- Functions both as a protective travel case and viewing stand
- Improves typing and viewing comfort
- Form fitting protective case for maximum protection
- Durable lightweight construction
- Open to all connections and controls
- Quality packaging suitable for a gift
The case’s front cover leather strap looks great and does its job well but the clasp may become too loose over time to keep your case shut. Plus, the typing angle is not so sturdy, though it only feels uncomfortable if you are doing a lot of writing.
The durable exterior absorbs bumps and minor impacts on the front and back. Unfortunately the design leaves all of the edges exposed, except the corners.
The BookStand's bargain price is a result of the Macally's budget case materials. These materials do start to show some wear and tear over time (for example, a bit of cover peeling on some of the edges). However, the overall 'microfiber' feel is soft and a bit fuzzy, very nice to the touch.
While the Bookstand may have a nice design and high-scoring functionality, it might not be the longest-lasting case out there. But, if you are looking to get something affordable or need to buy a bulk shipment of cases, then there are always situations where a case like this is useful.
Because of this case's extreme downfalls in quality, I can only recommend it with caution.
