How do you want to take the iPad with you - paper or plastic? Consider the 100% organic Zattere tablet sleeve for the good of our planet and your device. It incorporates a tear/water-resistant paper composite material and wool felt lining to keep any generation iPad or even some similar sized Android tablets safer and easier to carry than a bagful of organic groceries. The slim design is perfect for modern day nomads. Slip it into a travel bag - yet better still, you can draw and write on the exterior. Like your leather satchel, this tablet sleeve will tell your story of journeys and experiences.

Pros

  • Fits any iPad or similar size 10" tablet
  • Customize the case with drawings & scribbles
  • Tear and spill resistant
  • 100% biodegradable

Cons

  • Single-purpose function
  • Not smart-cover compatible
  • A bit pricey

Overview

The Zattere is named for the spacious Venetian promenade, the very place where the Papernomad team were quenching their thirsty palettes when they sketched its original concept. This tablet sleeve is more substantial than its basic brown paper sack looks, constructed with a special tear- and water-resistant material that contains several layers of paper, cotton and bio-polymers. The Eco-Friendly design also features Australian sheep’s wool felt lining and a magnetic hemp fiber strap, which work together to keep the device fitted very cozy inside during transport.

What makes this design more exciting than your basic everyday brown bag lunch is that you can draw on it, stamp it, paint it, or write on it. The drawback? It’s not large enough for smart cover compatibility. But then again, rather than typing or viewing with the iPad, maybe you’ll be too busy doodling, trying to convince the cute barista to jot down his/her phone number, or sketching the next great tablet case concept.

3.5Functionality:
By simply pulling the hemp-strap, the device rises upward for quick retrieval. You can even clip on a Stylus, and of course, a regular pen, marker and/or mechanical pencil for transforming your Zattere into a work of art.
4.0Protection:
Your iPad will be safe from such spills, yet coffee and tea stains will only add to this case’s aesthetic charm. Although mainly designed to shield against everyday wear and tear, a few drops of my device landed quieter and more softly than when fitted in some neoprene designs.
5.0Quality:
A tear/water-resistant material that is completely biodegradable? This may sound like an oxymoron, but indeed the Zattere will eventually fade away. In the meantime, its flawless stitch-work and masterful construction should prove just as sustainable as your iPad, and will probably be still around to serve your next one thereafter.
4.5Value:
This ‘green’ solution costs more green than the average tablet sleeve, but as a design that defends just as well as one made of neoprene, wouldn’t your conscious feel better about not helping to preserve our planet?
4.3Overall: Great

You can’t honestly expect an iPad to last a lifetime - so why choose a synthetic case to endure that long, and beyond? The Zattere is not only an environmentally responsible choice, it’s a blank canvas for chronicling your journeys and experiences.

"I kind of regret it"

on 2013 Feb, 7 by Tom
I really wanted to use this everywhere, unfortunately now I am stuck with another sleeve. The inability for this sleeve to fit a smart cover really inhibits the functionality of this. I love the idea behind it, but even the wool lining inside feels harsh and rough on the device. I would compare the texture to one of those scrubbing pads you use in the wash. I hope they realize that you shouldn't charge an enormous price for a sleeve that in essence is of lesser quality than the 5 dollar sleeves from China. It's awesome i can doodle on it, but is doodling worth the high price. Not to mention the biodegradable qualities of this. Do i really want to have this thing dissolve in my hands? That is why they make these things last 50-60 years, so in that time I paid an exorbitant amount of money for this am I really helping the enviroment?

"Green case with unique looks"

on 2012 Jul, 6 by Alec West
What attracted me most in the Papernomad case is the fact that it’s completely green – 100% biodegradable. Why should environment suffer, when I decide to get the latest tablet and will have to throw away the old case?

With the Zattere case that might not even happen – it’s compatible with all generations of Apple tablets, and who says that the 4th will be much different in size?

The case is not only a beauty, it offers some useful functions as well: a magnetic pull tab allows to access the tablet in the matter of seconds and, at the same time, keeps the case closed when not in use. You can also jot down important notes on the case.
