Seemingly, Cooper has created the Elementary case to meet the practical demands of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 owners. This rudimentary folio case design provides everyday function and protection all in one sturdily-built, low-cost package.
Skech iPad 2 / 3 / 4 Faux-Leather Custom Jacket in Tan Brown
If your iPad 2 (or New iPad) is still wandering the streets naked, then it’s time to fit it with a “Custom Jacket” by Skech. Made entirely of scratch/stain-resistant polycarbonate material, this handsome brown faux-leather folio tablet case is perfectly tailored to keep your device lightweight, trim and easy to use. It also increases its function with a sleep/wake magnet and a tablet stand feature for browsing, typing and viewing.
Pros
- Access to all iPad 2 features/functions
- Lightweight and trim design
- Stand feature for typing and viewing
Cons
- No securing mechanism for the cover
- Leaves most of the iPad’s top edge exposed
- Typing angle is not the most comfortable
Overview
It’s only fitting that a case-solution called the “Custom Jacket” should garner a lot of attention, but do not confuse ‘custom’ with ‘customizable’. Skech makes the decision process easy by offering this brown faux-leather model, and another made of black textured rubber. This tablet folio is formed specifically around the iPad 2’s dimensions and functions (but will also fit the New iPad), so like mine, your device will easily snap into the rear-shell, remaining secure, lightweight, trim and easy to use while encased.

The backside of the case features a sewn-on tab that the cover slips into for creating the tablet stand , providing one angle for browsing and typing, and another for reading and watching movies. For me, the typing angle is a bit awkward and not the most suitable for extended use. Weak fingers and wrists that suffer from arthritis and/or carpel-tunnel may not find comfort in typing, but they can enjoy clear, easy-to-reach access to the power-button, volume rocker, USB port and audio-jack.
Features
- Dual position tilt stand
- Access ports for buttons, headphone jack, speaker and rear camera
- Hard shell
- Full body protection
- Magnetic sleep/wake flap

| 3.5 | Functionality: The typing angle is not great, but the stand will work better for browsing/viewing purposes. It has a sleep/wake magnet, and all iPad 2 features and functions align properly to the cutouts for easy access and use. |
| 4.0 | Protection: Its design leaves a majority of the iPad’s top edge exposed to potential damage, but all covered parts will be shielded against bumps, dings and scratches. It’s called a “Jacket”, so where is the elastic strap for securing the cover shut? |
| 4.5 | Quality: The slick feel of this faux-leather design may not improve the grip of your tablet, but it is scratch and stain resistant. Like all Skech cases, this one is built well enough to last. |
| 4.0 | Value: For $39.99 the “Custom Jacket” can be considered a good value for most, but for me, this price makes another Skech design even more appealing. For only an additional $5, the “Booklet” offers a richer aesthetic, some extra features, and better all-around device protection. |
| 4.0 | Overall: Good I expected so much more given its name, but the “Custom Jacket” still has some redeeming value as a durable case solution that provides solid function and protection for a reasonable price. |
