The folks at Cooper Cases are apparently quite proud of this tablet folio case: After all, it’s described as both “Infinite” and “Universal” in its lofty name. And in a few aspects, Cooper’s pride may be justified. Unfortunately, too many generic features (including the look) detract from the overall product.
STM Bags Glove Universal iPad Sleeve in Purple
What’s the difference between a glove and a sleeve? Not much, it seems, but if STM wants to call its simple zippered tablet case a “Glove”, who are we to argue? Just know that the STM Glove for 10” tablets is one of the company’s more popular designs – and is, simply put, your basic tablet sleeve .
- Scratch-resistant exterior
- Extra stitching along edges
- Durable zippers and neoprene material
- Not a tight fit
- No securing mechanism
- No extra features
STM Bags introduced its Glove for 10” tablets onto the market back in 2010. Since then, it has remained a popular choice for iPad and other users. While this neoprene sleeve remains an OK purchase for those seeking a basic case to carry their tablets, one must wonder if a bit of a redesign isn’t in order to separate this one from the competition.
Firstly, the STM Glove looks decent enough – if as minimalist as most sleeves out there – and comes in a few colors. The water-resistant neoprene material used is notably tough: This bag does an admirable job in protecting from scratches and absolutely will not hold a crease.
What’s disconcerting about the Glove to the point of distraction is the inexplicable and quite frankly annoying extra space that the tablet has when encased. While this slipping and sliding surely won’t hurt the tablet, the jiggling effect doesn’t exactly inspire confidence – and it sadly doesn’t truly fit the iPad “like a glove.”
- Think of it as a wetsuit for your iPad.
- Fitting like a glove to protect your iPad from bumps, dust and scratches.
- Plush soft lining and 3mm neoprene surrounds your laptop
- Durable YKK zippers for long lasting protection
- Internal zipper guards protects the iPad against abrasion
- Designed to protect both generations of iPads
As a sleeve for the 10” tablet, the STM Glove is naturally low on functionality. The single-purpose design serves users that carry the tablet often primarily and no extra functions are provided.
The neoprene exterior does a fantastic job in protecting the tablet against water and scratches, while the plush interior further defends the touchscreen. As a sleeve-style case, though, the Glove won’t defend against drops or other accidents beyond everyday environments.
STM Bags truly went all out in stitching the Glove, with four rows of stitching along the outside of the case to keep things together for a good long time. Combined with the neoprene material, this tablet case will surely last the lifetime of the device.
With a suggested retail price of around $25, the STM Bags iPad Glove is a reasonable enough value for the buck. On the other hand, those wishing for anything more in terms of functionality or protection might find something more at this price.
The light weight, good craftsmanship and reasonable price make the STM Bags Glove worth a look. As long as the user isn’t seeking too much in terms of extras, this neoprene sleeve is a nice enough solution for just about any 10” tablet.
