Zeus wore an aegis, so why not your e-reader? The Aegis by Trident Case is modern day protective shield tablet hard case for the Kindle Keyboard, which combines durable silicone and polycarbonate materials to defend the gadget against bumps, dirt, scratches, spills and accidental drops.

Overview

Although powerful, Zeus never had control over The Fates and Destiny, which may explain why he wore the aegis, a protective shield made of goatskin. Whether or not you believe in mythology and/or fate, you should certainly accept the fact that your Kindle Keyboard is destined to encounter mishaps and harmful elements along the way. So again I ask, why not fit your e-reader with this Aegis by Trident?

It’s not made of goatskin (yes, such cases do exist), rather this two-piece design consists of a silicone inner-sleeve and a polycarbonate outer-shell, combining to protect the device against shocks, abrasions, dirt, dust, moisture, and liquid spills.

The four corners of the silicone insulate are twice as thick, which provide extra bounce and forgiveness for your gadget to survive accidental drops as well. Although fate might dictate otherwise, drops might not be much of a concern due to the contoured backside that matches your hand for a more comfortable and secure hold.

The Aegis maintains clear access to all Kindle Keyboard buttons, the keypad, audio-jack and port. The package also includes an audio-jack extender that is compatible with all 3.5mm types for connecting the e-reader to car audio cords, home stereo systems, and more. 4.5	Design As a design that puts protection above all else, the Aegis does an admiral job of keeping added bulk and weight to a minimum. The countered backside design is great for allowing the user to hold the tablet more comfortably secure. The Aegis is available in five different colors to compliment either Zeus or Athena (red, yellow, pink, blue, black and ballistic green).
4.0	Functionality The Aegis maintains access to all buttons, port, jack and keypad. Though the covered buttons are a tad less responsive to touch and the plugs sometimes difficult to uncork, one can easily get passed this knowing all controls/features are better protected. Bonus points for the included audio-jack extension which allows the user to plug the device into a car/home stereo.
4.0	Protection Aptly named, this modern day protective shield will defend the idol you worship from bumps, dings, shocks, dirt, dust, scratches, moisture, spills, and accidental drops in between. Even better, the package includes a self-applicable scratch/smudge-resistant screen protector with cleaning and installation kit.
4.5	Quality Unless Zeus casts a lightning bolt toward the Aegis, the silicone skin and flexible polycarbonate shell design should prove highly resilient. Though we don’t think you'll ever need to dispute this one, all Trident cases are backed by a one-year limited warranty.
4.0	Value Though $39.95 is higher than the average back protector, this better than the average design won’t leave you with the feeling of buyer’s remorse.
