Like your favorite comic book superhero, the Kraken II by Trident Case makes the world a safe place for your iPad 2 (or new iPad 3) to thrive. It’s a rugged tablet case that can shield your tablet from many harmful threats, so the only thing this bright blue design lacks is Superman’s red cape.

Overview

The Kraken II consists of a durable silicone inner-sleeve and a hard polycarbonate outer-shell with built-in hinges. The silicone skin slips onto the iPad 2 (or new iPad 3) like a back protector, then place it into the hard shell, attach the screen cover, and the dual hinges lock firmly to keep the device sealed tight inside. This process takes a bit more time than it does for Clark Kent to transform into Superman, but the end result is certainly worth the extra effort.

Once the tablet is enclosed, you can go about your active lifestyle feeling confident in knowing that your valuable possession is safe from the most common pending disasters. What I like even more, is that the design incorporates a screen filter for the speaker grill and rubber tabs for the audio-jack, USB port, volume-rocker, home button and power switch, which will keep dirt, dust and moisture out!

In addition to this blue design for bringing out the Superman in you, the Kraken II is also available in several colors for complimenting any other alter ego you may have, including Red for The Flash, black for Batman, ballistic green for the G.I. Joe types, and a pink design for any ‘wonder woman’.

4.0	Functionality: Although covered for added protection, the volume rocker and power switch are now a tad less responsive to the user’s touch. The design allows for clear use of both cameras, and by simply ‘uncorking’ the rubber tabs the audio-jack and port can be easily accessed.
4.5	Protection: It’s not exactly a man of steel that can stop speeding trains or bullets, but the Kraken II will protect it against dirt, dust, shocks, scratches, drops and impacts. Even Aquaman would approve of this design for his device, which also keeps moisture and liquid spills out!
3.5	Quality: Your tablet won’t crack under pressure, but the polycarbonate shell and hinges might. But no fear, all Trident cases are backed by a one year limited warranty.
4.0	Value: It’s difficult to place any price on the importance of protecting your coveted gadget, but if you had to, then the Kraken II should be considered a bargain at $49.95.
4.0	Overall: Good I think the Kraken II is one of the better rugged and tough designs that you can find for the price… An ideal fortress of solitude for your device!
