The folks at Cooper Cases are apparently quite proud of this tablet folio case: After all, it’s described as both “Infinite” and “Universal” in its lofty name. And in a few aspects, Cooper’s pride may be justified. Unfortunately, too many generic features (including the look) detract from the overall product.
ZeroChroma Vario-SC Apple iPad 2 / 3 / 4 360 Degree Theater Stand Case
Not satisfied with just the two angles you’re getting out of the Apple Smart Cover? ZeroChroma has created this compatible design enhancing your device’s media use even further. With or without a Smart Cover attachment, The Vario-SC back protector rotates 360° between landscape and portrait formats and supports 11 different angles for many purposes such as: reading, watching movies, gaming, typing, and surfing the net.
Pros
- Smart Cover compatible
- Access to all iPad 2/iPad 3 features/functions
- 11 angles for both landscape/portrait formats
Cons
- Heavy drop/impact may break the plastic stand
- Stand is not comfortable/secure to grip for handle mode
- Could be priced a bit lower
Overview
The Vario-SC Theater Stand 360° by ZeroChroma is a smooth rubber tablet back protector with a rotating stand insert made of hard plastic. Created for the iPad 2 / New iPad, the rubber wraps the backside and extends to cover a portion of its bezel. This design creates a small lip around the edges, leaving the left side open for Smart Cover compatibility, and has holes that align perfectly to all of the device’s features/functions for easy access and use. On its own, this tablet stand case offers double function with table-mode and handle-mode, but I don’t recommend relying on the later because the stand is not very secure or comfortable to grip. Pairing it with the Apple Smart Cover offers triple function, giving you an additional lap-mode.

| 4.0 | Functionality: The two most acute angles easily collapse, yet regardless don’t serve much of a purpose. For the most part the stand will position your device very stable, and the design maintains clear access to all of its buttons, USB port, audio-jack, and both front/rear cameras. |
| 4.0 | Protection: This case-style is not intended for protection, so we don’t factor this category into scoring. But for what it’s worth, the rubber material will protect most of your iPad against scratching and abrasions, as well as light impacts if it accidentally tips over on a tabletop. |
| 4.5 | Quality: If there is one concern I have for this design it’s that one significant drop and hard impact could possibly cause the plastic stand to crack and/or break. Separate from such a potential disaster, this case feels like it will last a lifetime. |
| 3.5 | Value: I think the Vario-SC could be priced a little less considering its case-style, but $49 is still a good value for a design that functions as well as this one can. |
| 4.0 | Overall: Good Zerochroma has created a very smart and easy-to-use tablet stand case. If this is exactly the type of case-style you are searching for, I think there are few other designs that can make you look past the Vario-SC Theater-Stand 360°. |
