As another entry into the low-end of the tablet PC price range, the Leader International Impression 7 is yet another case of “you get what you pay for.” As tragically stripped down as the co-released Impression 10 feels, the Impression 7 seems even more no-frills, much to its detriment.

In fact, the main selling point of the Impression 10 – namely, the big capacitive touchscreen – is gone on the Impression 7. As the name implies, users will instead get a 7” screen which is resistive, a definite minus for those in the know. The specs are ho-hum, as well, mostly consisting of 802.11 b/g WiFi support, a micro SD card port and a camera of just 0.3 megapixels. Internal memory starts at 4 GB and can reach 16 GB with the SD card.

Flash 10.1 is supported in the Impression 7, but since no Android Market app is provided, users are relegated to having to order and use third-party apps to supplement the device. And as in the Impression 10, the Impression 7 operating system is Android 2.2, another paean to the low price of the device and further proof that sometimes investing a bit more money can make all the difference in performance and speed of heavy apps.

Even for users seeking an inexpensive tablet PC, the Leader International Impression 7 isn’t highly recognizable; the Impression 10 (for the big capacitive touchscreen alone) is a better step up and in fact carries the same suggested retail price as a fully-loaded Impression 7.
