You Get What You Pay For: Super Cheap Aakash UbiSlate 7 Sisappoints

Aakash UbiSlate 7

The single least expensive tablet PC in the world today is certainly the Aakash UbiSlate 7, which was released on the Indian market at a price of Rs 2,500 (about $47 or €36.25) last week.

Designed with students in mind, the UbiSlate sure enough sold out in stores due mostly to youth purchases; unfortunately, most customers have reportedly come away disappointed. A particular drawback is in the processor speed of a super slow 366 MHz, a figure easily topped by smartphones available in India.

Aakash representatives have promised a January release date for the UbiSlate 7 plus, which will include a 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor and a SIM card slot. Suggested retail price is Rs 3,000 ($56.25 / €43.50).
