Zerochroma Apple iPad 2/3/4 Folio review

The Zerochroma Folio should impress video-first Apple iPad users first and foremost: By way of a flush-mounted kickstand and 360-degree rotating swivel base, 11 different viewing angles are possible for viewing/display in both portrait and landscape modes. The remainder of this folio case isn’t too shabby, either: the TPU back cover is impact-resistant for above-average protection in this area, while the padded faux-leather front does its job well enough.

By look aloneBy look alone, the ZeroChroma iPad folio case doesn’t especially stand out among its kind. Done up in basic black, the front side is composed of padded PU leather with a natural grain texture while the back is rubbery TPU. Both materials are workmanlike in nature, with the scratch- and moisture-resistant cover and backer keeping the iPad safe from bumps, dirt, abrasions and impacts.

The Zerochroma folio’s interior includes no notable extras – until we come to the “Theater-Stand.” This is the major selling point of this case, and we admit it’s pretty impressive. Based on a kickstand design, the base is pulled out, away from back – it’s akin to popping the tab on a soda can. Then, the base may be pulled out to set the kickstand at any of 11 angles. In addition, the kickstand is set atop a 360-degree rotating swivel, allowing the stand to be set in portrait or landscape mode with this firm base.

And just in case you needed a bit more functionality out of a kickstand, Zerochroma also touts the Theater-Stand for use as a handle whist standing.
