• 2012 BEST PORTFOLIO TABLET CASE

Seemingly, we can’t go anywhere these days without the trusted tablet by our sides. And the same holds true of course for credit cards, ID, cash and some other tidbits. And that is when portfolios take center stage as the best case scenario. The finalists for this award all offer some smart, classy looks alongside plenty of slots and pockets to compliment the business professionals’ needs. Contrary to the expression, portfolio case seekers should give a hoot about Happy Owl Studio cases. And among their two choice designs, The Wallet was the best portfolio case in 2012 because it is a good fit for either a man or a woman.

  • 2012 BEST THEMED TABLET CASE

Again, there were some in-house arguments over which case deserved the best themed case award. Because really, you can’t convince a Hello Kitty fan that a Paul Frank or Angry Birds case is best for them. And as much as we love Totoya Creatures, they have a limited targeted audience. Arguments aside, the one sure thing about themed cases is that they incorporate a fun, playful design that is bound to connect with its users, and most probably some on lookers. We ultimately decided to hand the award to Cooper Cases Blocks because it is highly functional and protective, and almost just as fun to play with as the iPad.

  • 2012 BEST TABLET KEYBOARD CASE

The Cooper Cases perform the task at hand for a fair price. But the Rock Light & Cool was the best keyboard case in 2012. For starters, it is the slimmest keyboard folio-style case that we have encountered to date. The silicone keyboard is dust/water-resistant, and also removable for added convenience. Magnets are also in place for auto sleep/wake function, which is generally a rarity for this case-style. Finally, the Light & Cool is built for long-lasting use and competes in price against some more well-known brand name keyboard case designs.

  • 2012 BEST RUGGED & TOUGH TABLET CASE

Each finalist is an excellent performer in keeping the tablet safe from the most common harms and accidents. Narrowing the list down, Andres Industries and LifeEdge cases are the most trustworthy in extreme situations (which would help explain their higher than average cost). Furthermore, Andres Industries brands their cases as “watertight, impact-proof, unbeatable”. Until someone else can prove otherwise, we think the Andres Industries case deserves to be awarded the best rugged & tough case of 2012.

  • 2012 BEST TABLET CASE FOR KIDS

Though not exactly super at making a strong first impression with the youngsters, any parent can still appreciate the SuperShell case by M-Edge for keeping their iPad safe in the hands of the most rambunctious of kids. And don’t get us wrong, we love Totoya Creatures too! These cuddly characters are a lot of fun once they come to life with the iPad inside. But both kids and parents have spoken up, and they all agree that Speck's iGuy is the best tablet case for kids in 2012. Reason being, children of many ages can connect with the iGuy. This case is also made of child-friendly material and provides more complete use of the iPad while encased. After all, isn’t it the objective to inspire kids to play with the tablet?

  • 2013 BEST TABLET STAND IN A FOLIO CASE

99% of folio-style cases feature an integrated stand for displaying the tablet. Given this common staple, one might imagine that locating the best stand feature would warrant considerable debate. But truthfully, this was a no-brainer for us. In 2013, Zerochroma delivered the one folio with the best tablet stand, which offers an expansive range of up to 11-different angles for displaying the iPad 2-4 in either landscape or portrait format. And if that isn’t enough function for the user, the kick-stand leg also doubles as a handle feature for more secure, convenient hand-held display.

Messenger Bags can be custom designed for demonstrating the user’s own sense of style and personality. But from the inside, you probably could not tell one apart from the rest. Except the Mini Buran from Chrome, which features a special padded interior pocket specially suited for holding electronic devices, including any sized tablet.

The Bluelounge Mika is surely deserving of the Golden Case award, however most of us here are convinced that the iLoveHandles FACET is a bit more than a tablet stand: It’s a cool-looking desk ornament. Plus this accessory has some nifty extra function in its easy swivel action.
