Integrated stands allow a case to stand the tablet hands-free. An built-in tablet stand may be of a foldout design, folding cover, or kickstand.
A stand is (almost) a standard feature for tablet cases. It's hard to imagine a good case without one. They are commonly seen in back protectors, folios, rugged cases and keyboard cases.
The material of the stand will depend on the tablet case itself. It tends to be polyurethane or hard plastic because of strength and light weight. Some stand are made of leather to match the look of the case.
Foldout stands often resemble the tri-fold design of the Apple Smart Cover for a simple-to-form pyramidal base for the tablet. A folding cover-type stand will typically be inserted into a rear-tab for stability. While a kickstand is a frame-like stand embedded at the case’s back.
The possible downsides to tablet cases with a stand is bigger weight and thicker case structure to accommodate the stand.
