Cooper Zunge Google Nexus 7 Folio

Almost everything about the Cooper Zunge folio tablet case for Google Nexus 7 tablet is good to exceptional, from the feel of the PU leather to the cutouts and magnet function. Only the tablet stand feature shows a misstep in the approach to case design.

Editor's Rating

In a lot of areas, the Cooper Zunge is notable among tablet folio cases. Cooper gets the job done in terms of the nice polyurethane leather exterior molded to pleasing softness and bound by tight stitching. The case opens and closes with a satisfying snap that clearly indicates good strong magnetic enclosure. Best of all is one of the best interior bezel frames this reviewer has seen in a tablet case. With the same PU leather and stitching, the bezel frame makes a nice tight fit around the Nexus 7. The frame is further anchored by seriously sturdy Velcro and pad attached to the interior underneath the device – Once its in, that tablet’s going nowhere! The cutouts are perfect – the ovular shape of the power button cutout makes it look as though Cooper had another distinctly non-Google Nexus tablet in mind when designing it, for example. And sound suffers a bit until in the stand position. And speaking of that stand ... The front cover ostensibly folds out to connect with the rear-side tab. But this is quite difficult to manage correctly. It’s possible to pin the cover underneath the tab too much or too little and the tablet falls over. Even when set to the two possible angles, the Nexus doesn’t stand up to any marginal movement. Perhaps worst of all is the fact that the back tab will become misshapen, i.e. stick out from the back, in short order. After merely a few attempts at assembling the stand, the tab on our test model and the cover were already showing creases. This aspect is a clear Fail.

  • Nice leather look and feel
  • Bezel keeps tablet very secure
  • Automatic sleep/wake function

    Overall: OKAY

The summary echoes the introduction: The Cooper Zunge folio case performs well in most areas, losing out slightly with a speaker cutout and failing with the tablet stand. Still a nicely inexpensive best case scenario for Google Nexus 7 users seeking out a decent folio.
