OK, who’s ready for yet another Samsung smartphone/phablet/tablet/combo device? As of this writing, Tablet2Cases has seen 20 major new releases or significant upgrades to extant products in just over two years – though we can safely say that the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is the company’s first 8.4” tablet.

Interestingly enough, the longtime video specialists apparently did not arbitrarily choose the 8.4” measurement merely to dominate one minuscule niche: Due to this seemingly wacky screen size, the dimensions result in the 16:10 aspect ratio used to screen films. Video-first tablet users take note!

In terms of look, the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 distinguishes itself from the competition while following the lead of Samsung’s 2013 releases such as the Galaxy Note 3 in providing a faux-leather exterior for a little extra grippability and a nicer look than the typical budget tablet or Apple iPad wannabe. (And of the two, the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is definitely the latter on the outside; done up in white, this about as close as Samsung will get to the market leader in terms of design.)

So it goes for the remainder of this tablet: The Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 follows the path of Samsung’s prior successes in tablet technology with the specs you’d expect. Included are 2 MP front and 8 MP rear cameras, micro USB 2.0 port and 16 GB of internal memory standard. Processor is a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core, which delivers performance like anything by the big line, while the operating system is, at time of release, the most up-to-date Android 4.4.

Certain to nibble away at the 8” tablet market thanks to that characteristic Samsung speed and screen, the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is an excellent device particularly for video lovers – now all that needs to be done is to find the darn thing among the crazily massive Samsung product catalogue.
