If you like the Germanmade G.1 book case , then you will love the more functional G.2. Like its predecessor, the G.2 is a custom case that is made to order through an easy 5-step online procedure. The difference here is that the design also includes a built-in organizer compartment for storing extra items underneath the Apple iPad 2 and iPad 3.

Like us, Germanmade's motto is "best case scenario". But, while we offer you hundreds of reviews for pre-designed/built tablet cases from a variety of manufacturers, Germanmade allows you to create your own individually stylized case design. The company does all the hard work first, producing a well-constructed handmade tablet case that has the look of Moleskine notebook. From there, they let you simply determine the case’s material and exterior/interior colors for complimenting your own unique sense of style.

The G.2 is for the most part, an exact replica of the G.1, the only exception being that this model is slightly thicker due to the featured organizer compartment. The larger frame contains cutouts for a small pad of paper, pens, cell phone (specifically designed for the iPhone 4), earphones, and anything else you cram into it. Similar to the G.1, you have the ability to upgrade from Buckram to faux-leather (+$26) or genuine leather (+$52), with each available in several choice colors.
Compared to designs by DODOCase and Portenzo, and the G.2 is a bit more than a 1/2 inch larger all around, and feels a tad clunky at approximately 14 ounces. The frame design is also noticeably different. Rather than glue, GermanMade strengthens the rubber corners into the frame with screws for more durability. It is precisely cut to provide clear access to all buttons and ports, and to flow the speaker sound outward. However, potential buyers need to pay an extra $13 for a rear-camera port. Germanmade has also cut a distinct slot into the bottom left-hand corner of the frame which works as a tablet stand that supports the iPad upright in both portrait and landscape formats. The cover can be also be folded all the back to create a support for typing modes, which did feel most comfortable while resting in the lap. Though not discreetly hidden inside the cover, there is an embedded magnet for providing automatic sleep/wake function when closing and opening.
