The folks at Cooper Cases are apparently quite proud of this tablet folio case: After all, it’s described as both “Infinite” and “Universal” in its lofty name. And in a few aspects, Cooper’s pride may be justified. Unfortunately, too many generic features (including the look) detract from the overall product.
Happy Owl Studio The Leather Shell iPad 2 Back Protector Case
Hoo-hoo better than Happy Owl Studio to design a fine-quality back protector for your iPad 2? But the "The Leather Shell" doesn’t just come out at night, you can engage with your device all day long with this design that leaves front display, button, ports and rear-facing camera open for easy to reach, hands-on use. Better still, it is covered with genuine leather for you to enjoy a more pleasant feel and comfortable, firm grip.
- Easy to reach access to all buttons, ports and camera
- Compatible with Apple Smart Cover
- Genuine leather exterior increases grip-ability
- Basic function with no special features
- Polycarbonate frame and leather don’t match very well
- Leather is prone to scratch/scuff marks
The kind folks at Happy Owl Studio are committed to design chic, useful and affordable leather tablet cases for iPad 2 owners to enjoy. "The Leather Shell" presents as a nice, chic tablet case for ladies , but I also like it as a sleek, sophisticated look to compliment a man’s sense of style just as well. This tablet protector has a polyurethane frame covered with a smooth, yet tactile, soft genuine black leather. There are few parts along the edges to suggest that the leather may peel with age, but overall this form feels quite flexible, which is why I like it to easily outlast most other tablet hard cases.
- Designed for iPad 2
- Compatible with Apple's Smart Cover™
- Genuine leather exterior for increased grip and pleasant in-hand feel
- Polycarbonate frame protects iPad 2
- Full-port & camera access
All the cutouts are correctly aligned with the buttons, ports and rear-facing camera for easy to reach access/use. For increased function, consider combining it with the Apple Smart Cover.
The genuine leather may be harmed by scuffs and scratch marks, but the back of your device certainly won’t. The cushy extended corners and right edge can prevent certain dangers from contacting the screen, but of course if you choose to add one, the Apple Smart Cover can serve as a more reliable shield.
With some rough edging in some parts, perhaps the polycarbonate frame and genuine leather aren’t the greatest match. But unlike a lot of hard cases that I have held, this one feels flexible and durable enough to last.
$35.99 is a great price for a leather back protector, but I am a bit hesitant about spending over $100 to pair this with a leather Smart Cover. At that price point, I think the "The Wallet", or "The Clutch”, are each better values to be had from Happy Owl Studio. For $80 you can receive double the function – check them out!
Any man or woman in the market for a high-quality tablet protector would be wise like an owl to get their hands on "The Leather Shell". Great on its own, pairing it with a nice leather Apple Smart Cover could make it even better!
