Legal War of Nerves: Samsung Scores Victory Over Apple in California

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 ok for sale in California

In the ongoing legal war between Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics, the latter may have scored another point in the world's prime market for tablets - the United States.

A California federal district court has ruled against a request by Apple legal representatives to order a preliminary injunction against Samsung. The injunction was filed for copyright infringement in the Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G, Droid Charge and Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices.

Apple Inc. has requested similar orders in at least four other countries this year. While the Samsung Galaxy Tab PC remains unsaleable in Australia due to an injunction, Samsung has released a modified version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany to get around an Apple injunction there. A Netherlands-based court has invoked a ban on Samsung smartphones throughout the European Union, but in the same hearing the Galaxy Tab was ruled legal for sale in the EU.
