American Airlines Brings iPads Into the Cockpit

Don’t worry, you’re pilot isn’t playing Angry Birds — in fact, that iPad he’s holding is helping to make your landing safer and smoother. AA will ditch the cumbersome flight chart binders for the more streamlined, more easily updateable and less heavy Apple iPad app JeppTC.

AA hopes that this flight chart app will save money in the long run not to mention making it easier for pilots to get you where you need to go. Although anyone can get JeppTC on the iTunes store, licensed pilots are said to have more access to flight charts.

The iPad and app have undergone thousands of test hours over the last 6 months, so rest assured these tablets won’t fail.
