Last weekend, June 28-30, was the time for Russian Racing Championship drivers to contest the third stage of this year’s season on Smolensk Ring. Tablet2Cases sponsored pilot, Michail Stepanov, was back in action in his Seat Super Copa among the best drivers in the most prestigious Touring class.
Although Stepanov didn’t shine in the qualifying, taking only 8th place on the starting grid for the 1st race, he managed to fight back later on. Thanks to perfect adjustments to the car and some high-class driving, Michail finished the first race in 4th position, raking up much-needed points for classification.
The first six drivers have switched places for the second race, allowing Stepanov to start the race in 3rd position. Ever-changing weather conditions didn’t prevent our pilot from showing off his superb skills, as he went on to finish the second race in the 4th position as well. The points Michail collected during the weekend helped him solidify his position in the overall Driver’s standings.
With two 4th places during the weekend Michail collected valuable points for his B-tuning team. Unfortunately, his teammate, Andrey Nikolayev, was forced to withdraw from 2nd race due to technical problems, preventing the team from raking up even more points. This weekend’s result keeps B-tuning’s prospects of making top 3 at the end of the season alive. With three stages behind and five races to go, the team has all it takes to progress further in the rankings.
As for the separate Seat Super Copa classification, Michail Stepanov was far out of reach for opponents during this weekend. He won both races in this classification, further extending his lead in the overall classification.
RRC Stage 4 is scheduled to for the July 12-14 weekend as the teams move on to Kazanring. We are looking forward to cheering for our pilot, and wishing Michail the best of luck for the upcoming racing weekend.
