The Acer Iconia Tab A701 is the same as the A700, but with carrier data connectivity. It sports the same Tegra 3 processor, Android 4.0 and 1920x1200p display.

At 1.47 pounds and 0.43 inches thick, it's not the lightest or thinnest option around, though Acer isn't exactly known for churning out ultra-slim tablets (the 0.43-inch-thick A510 and the 0.49-inch A200 stand as evidence). Still, the A700 feels great in our hands, and that extra bit of thickness lends the device a solid, reassuring grip.

Benchmark tests put the A700 a bit behind the best of the bunch of Android devices, and in real-world use, the tablet has noticeable stuttering and lag. Apps seems to open quickly enough, but when navigating the user interface, there are noticeable lags and delays that contribute to a feeling of frustration while using the tablet.

A good full HD screen and an excellent pair of speakers make the A700 a media tablet par excellence. There is also more of an improvement over the A510 in other areas than Acer’s spec list suggests, which, combined with a reasonable ticket price, makes the Iconia Tab A700 a very solid purchase.
