While the HP 8 Tablet offers a slightly bigger screen size at 7.85 inches compared to other HP tablets, this low cost budget model is lacking in far more important capabilities. The plain appearance in basic silver does not do it any favours, nor does the low grade choice of ARM Cortex 1GHz processor. This particular model seems aimed at the first time buyer who just wants a basic tablet to try out; however there are some greater offers available from HP such as the HP Slate 7 which out performs this tablet in battery life at 10.5 hours and 1.8GHz processor power for just $30 more.

The HP 8 battery will last a mere 7 hours and it appears to struggle to manage its performance all that well with only 1 GB of memory to support usage. What is good however , is the light weight and it is comfortable to hold, but even using it as a camera offers low picture quality due to the basic 2 Megapixel camera.

Add to this the fact that it also has fewer pixels at 1024 x 768 than the Slate 7, spread out over a larger screen. HP is trying to appeal to very cost conscious consumers who probably are not considering buying a tablet at all, the HP 8 tablet fails to impress and only provides very limited possibilities for tablet computing.
