A single-purpose accessory for the tablet is the stand, a product specifically designed to hold the device for hands-free viewing usually at several angles. In tablet stands, the device is snapped in, clipped or propped up to keep it in place conveniently.
Quite a few styles of tablet stands are available on the market today, with the most common the simple tripod style and shell case with legs. A tripod stand will hold up the tablet for viewing in either portrait or landscape mode and is designed with a minimum of material for easy use and light weight. Shell case-like tablet stands consist of one piece of inflexible material that covers an entire side of the device with a foldout stand or legs for stable viewing on even surfaces. Since these stands are often designed for a specific model of tablet, the appropriate cutouts should allow for no loss of sound quality.
Additionally, some tablet stands allow for use in tandem with an extant case such as a SmartCover for a bit more protection and convenience.
