Lenovo’s introductory Miix 2 tablet, the 8” version, was certainly impressive enough: In that model, the generic black bezel-look belies surprisingly good picture quality and a handy package of included apps. Good news, then, that the Lenovo Miix 2 10” edition improves on its little brother to immediately join the ranks of the truly attention-worthy ranks of larger tablets.

A primary selling point for the Miix 2 tablets is inclusion of the familiar Windows 8.1 operating system. With 2 GB of RAM at its disposal, things should run as quickly as on a similarly-programmed laptop – much the point of this device, actually; more on this below. Included in the Miix 2 10” are several Windows apps, including Office Home & Student software.

The 8” Miix 2 admirably got lots out of its relatively low-resolution 1280 x 800-pixel touchscreen, but Lenovo has happily upped that resolution to 1920 x 1280 and applied high-definition technology for a result that allows comparison with, say, Apple and Samsung devices.

To truly complete the potential of the Miix 2 10”, however, Lenovo also touts its excellent keyboard dock. Featuring a full QWERTY keyboard that nearly exactly doubles the tablet in dimensions and weight, this bonus accessory makes complete the company’s hopes of offering a full-on laptop substitute.

One further note: Lenovo even addressed the generic look of this Miix 2 – it’s also available in silver…
