If you like to flaunt the iPad / Pad 2 'au naturel', the Matias iRizer is the perfect accessory for supporting your device’s exhibitionist performance, posing it in 5 different display angles for comfortable typing and viewing formats. Better still, this tablet stand packs-up nice and compact for accompanying your device inside a tablet sleeve, backpack, handbag, or any other larger carrying solution.

Overview

The iRizer is a minimalistic two-piece design made of a special composite material. When holding it I am instantly reminded of the toy block with pegs that I used as a child for developing hand/eye coordination skills. Fortunately this tablet stand is even easier to learn and also something that you will want to keep on using long after mastering. The main plate has 4 slots, one side marked with angles 20°, 30°, 40°, 50° and the reverse side has a 70° angle. Simply choose the angle you prefer and slide the mantle plate through the appropriate slot. The mantle has a thick piece of rubber to grab the iPad / iPad 2 and prevent slipping/sliding across the smooth surface.

Although designed specifically for Apple devices, the iRizer's perch (approximately 12cm wide and 1cm deep) is large enough to accommodate most other brand tablets. I tested small devices like the Kindle and Samsung Galaxy Tab and BlackBerry Playbook, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Motorola Xoom, and they all fitted just as secure. And this design will also accept those devices already fitted with a basic tablet protector, or even inside more robust case-styles. The iRizer is not only great to use on all level surfaces at home, but it also packs neatly into a soft cotton pouch for following your device to campus, the office or the local café.

4.0	Design: Great Perhaps nothing to ooh and ah over, yet still a clean and efficient design for use with the iPad / iPad 2, as well as most other tablet PCs. I am not fond of the clinking’ sound the plates make together, but I suppose if/when your device becomes obsolete they could be strung up for use as a nice set of wind chimes.
4.0	Functionality: Great When most folding cases with media stand function suffocate your device inside a frame and offer just a single directional format, the iRizer keeps your device free of any constraints with up to 10 different horizontal/vertical display options.
N/A	Protection: Not intended to offer any protection, so we do not factor this category into scoring.
5.0	Quality: Masterpiece The special composite material contains 45% organic fiber for reducing its carbon footprint, but a 100 years will have passed before these two solid plates begin to decompose.
3.5	Value: Good $39.99 may seem a bit pricey for such a minimalistic design, but the iRizer is still a good value for a tablet stand that is compact, protable and built to withstand the abuses of everyday use.
