This slate is actually thinner than the iPad Mini and I mention that tablet, because the Allview Viva i8 adopts its format. The device measures 7.25 mm in thickness, weighs 312.5 grams, being both lighter and slimmer than Apple’s slate from last year.
I appreciate the slim and modern design. On the hardware side we have available an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 7.9 inch, 4: 3 format and a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. And inside the tablet is an Intel Z2580 dual-core 2 GHz processor with Intel Atom Clover Trail + 32 nm architecture and Intel Hyper Threading technology.
Viva i8 has a Power VR 544 video card MP2, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB flash memory, expandable through a microSD card up to 32 GB. The tablet is equipped with a 5 MP camera with Full HD video recording function and autofocus. There is a second camera 2 MP. The built-in SIRF GPS receiver offers a better location accuracy to standard GPS solutions.
Given the sale price (899 €) and performance of the tablet we've tested, I recommend this product myself and believe that at this time, of all Romanian brands that market tablets, the Viva i8 shows the best value for the price.
