Billed as yet another inexpensive alternative to the Apple iPad , the WitsTech A81E tablet is primarily designed for use with video and internet viewing. And this device does get high marks in these areas, with an amazing amount of connectivity possible and a nice 7” resistive screen.

The WitsTech A81E specs show its great functionality. Starting with the Android 2.2 operating system, the A81E tablet comes with 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth (including the capacity for voice-dialing phone numbers), and a GPS. Use of HDMI is available via Ethernet or WiFi as well. The 600MHz TI Cortex microprocessor runs quickly, and the WitsTech A81E provides support for Adobe Flash 10.1 and up to 16 GB of storage with a micro SD card, both boons to video-first users.

As a resistive screen, the WitsTech A81E inevitably provides below-average responsiveness to touch commands, but again the accent is on video is this tablet. Having said this, the screen resolution of 800x480 looks great when used in video play and gaming graphics are also smooth. An ebook reader is installed, and the reading experience is in line with the high-quality visuals established by the A81E.

While hardly capable of matching all the iPad’s functionality, the WitsTech A81E tablet may actually top the Apple in the video realm. WitsTech has succeeded in its goal of providing a nice tablet for entertainment. Tablet2Cases recommends to buy it now for $185.
