If the main selling point of a tablet is a good version of Microsoft Windows as the operating system, warning bells should start ringing. Yes, the version of the Windows 8 OS does make things comfortable and easy for the user who no longer has to rely on some weak offerings from Windows Marketplace; unfortunately, the ZTE V98 tablet is fairly unremarkable thereafter.
The ZTE V98’s does not helping in making this model stand out among 10” tablets; the full front of glass is nice enough, but the 1,366 x 768px resolution does no justice to the surface. The aluminum running around the front and making up the back side is decent, if ho-hum.
For specs, the user will note the mid-range 1.7 GHz Intel Atom Z2760 processor and the average 2 GB of RAM. With this setup, basic apps and video viewing is possible, but gamers will definitely need something of higher speed for best results. A definite plus, on the other hand, is the 64 GB of internal storage space, an amount rarely available without micro SD cards. A slot for those is here too, incidentally, for extra storage of up to 32 GB more.
