The Galaxy Tab P1000 represented Samsung’s first step into the tablet PC market and as such, this device resembles a smartphone in terms of apps and software – plus the familiar Android 2.2 operating system. In similar fashion to its Galaxy S smartphone, the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab has a 1 GHz Hummingbird microprocessor and the same graphics accelerator software.

Well notable about the 7-inch Galaxy Tab is its fantastic trimness. Just 12 millimeters thick, the Samsung tablet weighs a mere 0.8 pounds (less than 0.4 kilograms) and thus is high on portability – especially for users planning to employ the excellent smartphone functions.

Other features in the P1000 Galaxy include Bluetooth, GSM phone, GSM and 3G connectivity, WiFi support, GPS functionality, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, a 720x480 video camera, SIM card and micro SD port, accelerometer, and DivX/Xvid codec support. The P1000 includes a capacitive 7” screen of 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, which earns the tablet high marks in its class for both responsiveness and video viewing.

Android Market comes installed on the P1000 Galaxy Tab and will most assuredly be welcomed by users of the camera. While the Samsung technology in the camera is quite good – particularly among 7” tablet models – Market apps can really assist the user in getting the most of this hardware. Though no one will make the P1000 their primary camera, this one is one of the best available in a smaller tablet. Together with the video calling features, these are two outstanding features of this reasonably-priced, recommendable tablet.

Tablet2Cases recommends to buy it now for $314.95.
