PC specialists Dell have apparently backed out of the tablet market for the time being, with company representatives announcing the discontinuation of its Streak 7 Android tablet. Priced as a budget tablet at $200 with a tied-in T-Mobile contract, the Streak 7 failed to catch the imagination of users while Dell did little research into advancing the device for future releases.

Research In Motion is devaluing its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet inventory by $485 million. The devaluing will be taken as a charge against pre-tax profits for the third quarter. The PlayBook is “the worst and most costly decision by RIM,” according to the Guardian, which may affect its wider reputation in mobile communications.
