Keyboard cases add to the functionality of the device by providing the standard QWERTY keyboard embedded right into the carrier, allowing the user to easily convert the tablet into a laptop, as the built-in keyboard makes up for the tablet touchscreen’s poor typing quality.
When opened, the tablet keyboard case will often resemble a laptop format. The bottom half of the case is devoted to the typing area; the tablet is held firm above this with clips, straps or even small magnets. The best keyboard cases allow the angle of the screen to be adjustable. Some such cases include a pull-out pad that extends underneath the keyboard to add a bit of extra weight to that area so that the keyboard holds down the device during use. Other models may include a stand to provide greater stability for the tablet.
Quality is variable among this style of tablet case, and prospective owners of such a case should be advised to check the sturdiness of the keyboard.
